Silodosin is employed in the management of the symptoms of an enlarged prostate gland (benign prostatic hyperplasia – BPH) in men. Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a state whereby there is a growth of the prostate gland as a result of the proliferation of the cells, primarily in men over the age of 50 years. The prostate gland’s growth is non-malignant.

Silodosin consists of ‘Silodosin’, which acts by preventing the receptors (alpha 1) present in the prostate gland, bladder, and urethra (water pipe) from getting activated, thus relaxing the bladder and prostate gland muscles. This assists in the alleviation of benign prostatic hyperplasia symptoms and facilitates easy urination, thus enhancing urine output and flow.
