Artesunate Injection: The injection is made up of the drug named Artesunate, which is used to treat malaria. This medicine is not used to treat severe malaria. Artesunate is a medicine that fights parasites. It works by making dangerous chemicals (free radicals) inside the malaria parasite, which kills it.
Malaria is a sickness caused by a tiny parasite. It spreads when a person is bitten by an infected Anopheles mosquito. When a mosquito that is carrying a disease bites a healthy person, it injects the ‘Plasmodium parasite’ into their blood. This parasite then affects the red blood cells and liver cells. Malaria symptoms usually begin about 10 days to 4 weeks after a person gets infected.
